I qualified as a teacher in New Zealand in 1996 and upgrade my skills with continuing professional development. Art, Nature, creativity and wellbeing are my specialties.
I can facilitate educational workshops to a curriculum, or create bespoke or therapeutic workshops to a theme.
Usually there is a need or objective for a workshop. It begins with the participants and what we are hoping they will achieve and feel after the workshop and available resources. Below are some examples of my expertise, but I am open to new ideas.
I have the skills and experience to collect and collate related data, follow child, vulnerable adult, diversity, inclusion & accessibility, and health & safety policies. Workshops can be set up at your chosen location. I am happy to offer social media content, networking and funding support. I can assist or lead. Ideally I prefer collaborative workshops. I am not young.
I have run workshops in youth centres, city farms, schools, museums, public gardens, markets, festivals and health centres. Initially for children, but laterly intergenerational. Topics have included; Paint-making, Sun, Signs, Wearable art, Critters based on smell, Theatre arts, Up-cycled jewellery, Home-made musical instruments, Plant propagation, Bird art, Mandalas, Political posters, Collage, Drawing, Principles & elements of design, and more.

I am a qualified secondary arts, health and technology teacher who is comfortable working within educational settings and museums.
I have taught paint-making, print-making, felting, myths & legends, wearable art, theatre arts, elements and principles of design, fabric technology, PHSE (Personal, health, Social & Emotional) as Ministry of Education curriculum lessons, with assessment criteria and outcomes, and as exstension projects for students.
Recreational Arts Activities

I facilitate drop-in workshops broadly themed within my capabilities, purely for the participants pleasure of making things. These will often occur at a street fair, fundraising event, festival, museum or gallery, care home, childcare facility, or after school and holiday clubs.
Tarot Workshops
I offer Intuitive Collage workshops, themed around the the creation of your own Tarot and Jungian Archetypes, as a technique to explore identity and the subconscious; There is effective power and freedom in exploring how you construct an image. Creating intuitive collage is a tool for self-discovery which taps deep into your self-expressive voice. No artistic skill is required. It is an opportunity to play and explore, just using magazines, papers, scissors and glue.
During this intuitive college tarot workshop you will:
-
Discover the power of collage as a window to the surreal, a tool for protest and an expression of identity
-
Meet like-minded folk ready to unlock their inner-creative
-
Tap into your own unique power archetypes through collage
-
Understand that healing can involve releasing energy, transforming energy, or embracing something new
-
You’ll be able to take your creation home at the end
My pay scale is sliding depending on the context (between voluntary and £250 a day plus preparation. There are a lot of hours that go into preparing a workshop). Ideally I’d like to be paid well and cover costs, but can work to your budget. Get in touch to discuss.
