Beetle to Earth
Where did you get that rash? Who's asking?
A beetle's functional wings, which allow flying, are the hind wings, hidden in my painting, as it can't fly in space. And why is it in space human? The elytra, (outer-wing casing) have an ingenious and often beautiful structure with superhydrophobic (water repellent) characteristics. The iridescent shine of many beetles is produced structurally. The physical features trap and redirect some wavelengths of light and thus colour. Their inner structure helps to provide light mass and high strength.
This art is a metaphor.

We Evils Mating Secretly
I painted some beautiful weevils mating (the male is smaller). Some Weevils are called Pantry-Pests. This lead me to paint a woman remembering an illicit affair and not wanting to; thus the can.
